Pet Dentistry

Dental care is arguably the most important preventive care available for pets. If a pet’s mouth is unhealthy, unclean, or diseased, the effects on their overall physical health are astronomical. We ensure that all pets receive a thorough dental check whenever they come in for a physical, and often we recommend professional dental cleanings, depending on the condition of the oral cavity. We also recommend regular, at-home dental care. Ask our team for tips and product recommendations!

At Hidden Oaks Animal Hospital, we perform routine to advanced dental care. If your pet needs more extensive care, we also refer to a local board certified dentist who is able to provide specialized treatment for a wide range of oral conditions.

Dermatology

Itchy skin, sores, ear infections, and hot spots are all signs of allergies in pets. At Hidden Oaks Animal Hospital, we provide skin and allergy testing for pets who have demonstrated these symptoms. Some of the dermatologic testing we offer include allergy testing, skin scraping, skin cytology, bacterial cultures, and more. We can also examine the ears with a video otoscope to obtain a diagnosis. After your pet’s allergy has been diagnosed, we can offer a number of treatment options, from medication and dietary supplements, to shampoos, mousses, sprays, and wipes.

Glaucoma Screening & Advanced Eye Care

At Hidden Oaks Animal Hospital, we provide advanced eye care services to our patients. Glaucoma screening is often recommended for the breeds that are prone to glaucoma, or pets who have shown a predisposition for it. We perform tear testing and dry eye testing as well.

We are also able to provide exceptional veterinary surgeries, including eyelid surgeries, cherry eye, and more. If your pet is in need of advanced eye care, we will be happy to provide more information about our available services.

In-House Laboratory

Our veterinary team is able to provide laboratory testing right at our facility. We are proud to announce we carry a new line of in-house laboratory equipment which allows for more extensive testing for a variety of species and much faster results. We are also able to send out to local and national labs if we need results for more extensive or advanced tests. Whatever your pet’s needs, we have them covered. Our in-house lab equipment has made a speedy diagnosis of a patient exposed to rat poisoning and allowed lifesaving treatment to be given.

Preventive Pet Care

Preventive care is one of the most important service you can provide your pet. We recommend annual physical examinations for all pets and twice yearly exams for senior pets or those with chronic health concerns. It is important for our team to examine your pet regularly so that we can catch any developing health problems and also establish a baseline of health that will help us to recognize changes. We may also recommend diagnostic testing, blood screening, urinalysis, and other procedures based on our observations and concerns. Annual visits are often the time we administer necessary vaccinations as well.

Pet Surgery

Our veterinary team is equipped to provide a number of traditional surgeries, including a range of soft-tissue surgeries as well as open chest surgery. We provide complete surgical monitoring with our anesthesia, ensuring that our patients are as safe as possible. For added safety, we also utilize some of the safest, human-grade anesthesias: isoflurane and sevoflurane. We are one of the few practices to provide sevoflurane in the greater Tampa Bay area. These are advanced options, and are the safest available.
